Following the Taal Volcano eruption that started on Sunday, January 12, 2020 thousands of families were displaced and sought refuge in evacuation centres in Cavite, Laguna, and even Quezon for an indefinite period of time. During this time, Aretex extended help not only to our team members who were directly affected (Janeth, Alyzza, Reymark, and Zhiel) but also joining One Heart to bring relief to local communities.
The A-Team’s chosen charity to support is Gentle Hands, an orphanage in Manila for kids aged 3-13 who have survived horrific trauma. In April, 2019 before the covid lockdown, the A-team chose to celebrate our fifth anniversary with a visit to the facility, so we loaded up into five vans and headed to the orphanage. Our purpose was simple - to engage with the kids through a series of structured activities and let them know there is Hope in Love. After the event, Chris Kendall reflected, “There are no words to describe how inspired and humbled I was by the children, little humans who have every reason to hate and distrust our world. Yet, their smiles were huge, their affection was heart warming, their laughs were contagious, and our experience was profound. I am extremely proud to work with such an A-mazing group of people with such compassion and desire to make a difference in the lives of these precious children. It was an experience I will never forget!”
